How to Set Up a Vivitar Smart Home Camera

Introduction

With the Vivitar smart home camera you can monitor your home remotely while you're away using your phone or tablet. This guide will show you how to prepare the camera for setup and add it to the Vivitar Smart Home Security app.
Before You Begin:
You need to install the app first

1 Ready Vivitar Camera for Setup

  1. Insert a Micro SD memory card (Class 4 or higher, up to 32 GB) into the card slot located on the side of the camera.

  2. Connect one end of the provided USB cable into the AC charger.
    Connect power adapter.
  3. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the rear of the camera.
    Connect charger to camera.
  4. Plug the camera into the wall.
    Plug it in.
  5. Reset the camera:
    1. Use the provided setup tool or a paperclip to press the Reset button on the back of the camera.
      Pin in the reset hole.
    2. Hold the button down until the LED indicator turns red.

    3. The camera will say "reset success" when complete.
  6. The LED indicator will blink blue after about one minute.

  7. If you wish to, you may mount the camera with the provided mounting hardware.

2 Add Vivitar Camera to App

  1. Open the Vivitar Smart Home Security app.

  2. Along the bottom, select Devices.

  3. Select Add New Device.

  4. From here, you may add your device by either scanning a barcode or by selecting it from a list. Choose one of the methods below.
    Add Camera Via Barcode Scan
    1. Tap Scan Barcode.

    2. If prompted, select Allow.

    3. Take a screenshot of your device's barcode which is located on the box.

    4. If you have difficulties scanning the barcode, proceed to the next method located below.
    5. Once your device is detected, you'll be prompted to Sign in or Create account.
      Register or Sign in.
    6. Your device is now added. You may now configure it within the app.
    Add Camera Via List
    1. Tap IP Cameras.
      Select IP Camera.
    2. You'll be presented with a list of cameras. Select your specific device from the list.
      Add new device List.
    3. Register or Sign in to complete the setup.
      Register or Sign in.
    4. Your device is now added. You may now configure it from within the app.
