How to Fix Issues with the Samsung Gear App

Introduction

This will guide you through fixing common problems with the Samsung Gear app not connecting or working properly with your Samsung smartwatch.

1 Charge

  1. Plug the included charging dock into an electrical outlet.
  2. Place your fitness band on the dock so the 4 charging terminals on the back touch the 4 charging terminals on the dock.

This will guide you through fixing common problems with the Samsung Gear app not connecting or working properly with your Samsung smartwatch.
  1. Plug the included charging dock into an electrical outlet.

The device needs to be within a reasonable range in order to connect.

  • In general, to pair and use a Bluetooth device (like a speaker, headset or smartwatch), the device needs to be within 10 feet of your computer or other device.
  • Some medium and higher-power devices can be farther, up to about 30 feet, but this tends to be for larger devices that plug in or have very large batteries, such as another computer, media streaming device, or a plug-in speaker system.

Try moving the Bluetooth device closer if you have trouble.

For the next steps, we need to determine what type of mobile device you have.
  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.

  2. Tap the Bluetooth icon to enable it.

On your smartwatch:

  1. Push the Home key.

  2. Choose Settings.

  4. Choose Bluetooth.
  5. Make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on.
  1. Open the Samsung Gear app on your smartphone.

  2. Make sure the Info tab fills in the About Gear area.

  3. Try some of the other syncing options, such as changing the watch face, and make sure your Gear updates appropriately.
  1. Hold down the power button on your Android device.

    Depending on the manufacturer and model of Android device you have, the location of the power button will vary.

  2. A prompt will appear on-screen. Select Restart.

If the Restart option doesn't show up, tap Power Off instead. Press and hold the power button to turn the device back on.

If the menu doesn't show up, continue holding the power button until the device will turns off.
  1. Push and hold the Power button for a few seconds.

  2. Tap Power off on the screen.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Press and hold the Power button till the screen turns back on.
  1. Open the Samsung Gear app on your smartphone.

  2. Make sure the Info tab fills in the About Gear area.

  3. Try some of the other syncing options, such as changing the watch face, and make sure your Gear updates appropriately.

You will lose all your settings, customizations, preferences, and files on your Samsung Gear watch.

  1. Push the Home key.

  3. Choose Gear info.
  4. Choose Reset Gear.
  5. Choose Factory reset.
  1. Turn on your Samsung Gear Fit2 and bring it within 10 feet of your smartphone.
  2. Open the Samsung Gear app on your smartphone.

  3. Tap on Connect to Gear.

  4. Confirm that the passkey displayed on your smartphone and the one displayed on the Gear Fit 2 match. Then, tap on OK.

  5. Check the boxes to agree with the terms and features then tap on Next.

  6. Tap on Sign In to login to your Samsung account to be able to sync your data. If you don't have an account yet, follow the instructions to create one and fill in your required details.

  1. Open the Samsung Gear app on your smartphone.

  2. Make sure the Info tab fills in the About Gear area.

  3. Try some of the other syncing options, such as changing the watch face, and make sure your Gear updates appropriately.
  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select Bluetooth.

  3. Ensure that the Bluetooth toggle is in the On position.

On your smartwatch:

  1. Push the Home key.

Powering off an iPhone.

  1. Hold down the lock / power button.
  2. Slide to power off when prompted.
  3. Wait until the phone is off.
  4. Hold down the lock / power button until you see the Apple logo.
