To perform a factory reset on your Chromecast:

A Factory Data Reset (FDR) will reset the Chromecast device to its default factory settings. This is typically done when there is a problem that can only be fixed with a reset, or if you want to sell or give it away.

This action will erase all data from your Chromecast and cannot be undone.

The methods vary from version to version, so the first thing to do is determine which Chromecast you have. Identify your device using the list below:

  • Chromecast (1st Generation)
    A first generation chromecast device
  • Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra
