1 Cast Video to Chromecast (macOS)

Video content found on certain websites (such as YouTube) can sometimes be directly cast to your Chromecast if the website or video content permits it.

To Directly Cast Video Content to Your Chromecast

  1. Open Google Chrome.
    Google Chrome.
  2. Navigate to the video content you wish to cast to your Chromecast.
  3. If the video you've accessed supports direct casting, an icon will be available on the video player itself. Click the Cast button.

  4. Select your Chromecast device from the list of available devices. The video content will then begin to play on your Chromecast.

If you do not see the Cast icon on the video you've accessed, that video does not support direct casting to your Chromecast.

 

In this case, the video can only be cast to your Chromecast by mirroring the entire Chrome browser tab to your Chromecast instead.

2 Mirror Tab to Chromecast (macOS)

Google Chrome allows for the casting of an entire browser tab to your Chromecast device.

To Cast a Chrome Browser Tab to Your Chromecast

  1. Open Google Chrome.
    Google Chrome.
  2. Navigate to the content you wish to cast to your Chromecast.
  3. Click the Chromecast extension.

  4. Select your Chromecast device from the list of available devices. The browser tab open on your computer will then be displayed on your Chromecast.
