How to Watch Disney+ on a Vizio Smart TV
Introduction
Disney+ launched to a great deal of fanfare on November 12th, 2019. When it came to VIZIO Smart TVs, however, it became quickly apparent that streaming Disney+ directly on the TV wasn't possible.
But now, the wait is over. The promised update has been finished and was rolled out in March 2020. You can now easily watch Disney+ shows like the Mandalorian by running the brand new app on your VIZIO TV. You don't need to use Chromecast or Airplay work-arounds to get Disney+ on your big screen anymore.
It's important to know that the Disney+ app is only available on VIZIO SmartCast TVs that have built-in apps.
Before You Begin:

1 Make sure your TV can support Disney+
For you to be able to enjoy Disney+ on your VIZIO TV without needing any sort of workaround, your TV needs to be running on the SmartCast platform with built-in apps. There is no app store from where you need to download the app. With the latest SmartCast platform, the interface you interact with is 'always online' and all the apps that are available to it will be displayed on the screen automatically once they have been released.
The term 'platform' when it comes to your smart TV refers to the operating platform that it uses to function. It tells your TV how to operate, what to show on the screen, and makes up the interface you interact with. The specific platform your TV is running on will depend on both the model series, and when it was released. To easily determine this, use the images below as a reference:

The SmartCast platform with built-in apps is found on all VIZIO TVs released since 2018 as well as on 4K UHD TVs released between 2016 – 2017.

The first iteration of the SmartCast platform is found on VIZIO HD TVs released between 2016 – 2017.

The VIA Plus platform is found on VIZIO TVs released between 2013 – 2017 and is an upgrade to the VIA platform.

The VIA platform is found on VIZIO TVs released between 2009 – 2013.
So long as your TV is running SmartCast with Apps, as depicted above, the Disney+ app will be available to you if your TV is connected to the internet.
If you have a 4K UHD TV released between 2016 – 2017, but you do not see any apps on your screen, this may indicate the TV is still running on the first iteration of SmartCast and needs to be updated. This update cannot be applied to 1080P HDTVs released in the same years.
2 Launch the Disney+ App
- Press the V button on the remote.
- Look for and open the Disney+ app at the bottom of your screen.
- Log in with your Disney+ account.
- That's it! You can now start watching the Mandalorian on Disney+.
