How to Use Smart Features on a ecobee Switch+

- Your ecobee Switch+ to be already installed on your wall and set up within the companion app.
1 Access Smart Features
To access the ecobee Switch+ Smart Features you need to take the following steps:
- Launch the ecobee app on your mobile device.
- Go to the Switches tab at the bottom right.
You will only see this screen if you have both switches and thermostats set up in the app.
- Tap the name of the switch you want to manage.
- Then go to Smart Features at the bottom middle of the screen.
2 Set Up Smart Features
- When you access the ecobee Switch+ Smart Features for the first time, you'll be asked to set them up.
- You can do that quickly with the help of the on-screen guide if you choose Let's Go, or you can configure them manually if you choose Set Up Later.
3 Use Smart Features
The ecobee Switch+ can operate two types of lighting:
- Indoor
- Outdoor
To change the type of lighting your ecobee Switch+ operates:
- Tap the Info symbol ( circle around lower case i ) in the top right.
- And choose the type of lighting your ecobee Switch+ operates.
To manage the Smart Features of your ecobee Switch+:
For Indoor Lighting
- You have three options to choose from:
- Smart On - automatically turns on your light when you walk into a dark room, using occupancy and daylight sensors.
- Smart Off - automatically turns off your light a few minutes after you leave an empty room.
- Night Light - automatically turns on the small light located below the switch when the room is dark, and automatically turns it off when there's enough light in the room to see again.
- Toggle the switch to the right of a Smart Feature's name to turn it on or off.
- Tap a Smart Feature's name to get more details or customize its options.
For Outdoor Lighting
- You have two options to choose from:
- On at Sunset - automatically turns on your light at sunset, and automatically turns it off at sunrise
- Night Light - automatically turns on the small light located below the switch when the room is dark, and automatically turns it off when there's enough light in the room to see again.
- Toggle the switch to the right of a Smart Feature's name to turn it on or off.
- Tap a Smart Feature's name to get more details or customize its options.

- If the switch is set to operate outdoor lighting, you can change the operation mode if you tap the Info symbol ( circle around lower case i ) in the top right then select indoor lighting.
- You can toggle the switch to the right of a Smart Feature's name to turn it on or off.
- Or you can tap a Smart Feature's name to get more details or customize its options.
For Smart On
- You can configure:
- Daylight detection - If enabled, Smart On only activates when the room is dark
- Do not disturb - If enabled, Smart On doesn't activate between set times
- Tap an option's name to configure it.
- For Daylight detection, toggle the switch to the right to turn the option on or off.
- For Do not disturb, toggle the switch to the right to turn the option on or off and set the activation time interval.
For Smart Off
- Set the time after which the light should turn off when no one is left in the room.
Please select an option to proceed.
Do Not Disturb is an option of the Smart On feature. Smart On automatically turns on your light when you walk into a dark room, using occupancy and daylight sensors. If Do Not Disturb is enabled, Smart On doesn't activate between its set times
- The Smart On feature is only available when your switch is set to operate indoor lighting.
- If the switch is set to operate outdoor lighting, you can change the operation mode if you tap the Info symbol ( circle around lower case i ) in the top right then select indoor lighting.
- You need to have Smart On enabled for Do Not Disturb to take effect. Toggle the switch on the right to the on position.
- Tap where it says Smart On to enter the configuration settings.
- Go to Do not disturb.
- Toggle the switch on the right to turn the option on or off and set the activation time interval.
Night Light is a smart feature that helps you locate your ecobee Switch+ on the wall when it's dark. It automatically turns on the small light located below the switch when the room is dark, and automatically turns it off when there's enough light in the room to see again.
The ecobee Switch+ can operate indoor or outdoor lighting and the Night Light feature can be enabled for either of them.
To change the type of lighting your ecobee Switch+ operates:
- Tap the Info symbol ( circle around lower case i ) in the top right.
- And choose the type of lighting your ecobee Switch+ operates.
To enable or disable Night Light:
- Toggle the switch on the right to turn the feature on or off.
Vacation Mode is a smart feature that randomly turns the light on then randomly turns it off when you're away from home to make it seem as if you're at home.
- The feature is only available when your switch is set to operate indoor lighting.
- If the switch is set to operate outdoor lighting, you can change the operation mode if you tap the Info symbol ( circle around lower case i ) in the top right then select indoor lighting.
- On the Smart Features screen, go to Vacation Mode.
- And choose between:
- Appear home - to enable the feature
- Keep lights off - to keep the feature disabled
