By updating the software on your Amazon Fire tablet you can benefit from new features, or improvements and bug fixes to existing features.

2. Update

Depending on which generation of Fire Tablet (Kindle Fire) you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. Below are the steps for the 4th generation devices and onward.

  1. Swipe downwards from the top side of the screen.

  1. Look for Settings in the drop down menu and tap on it.

  1. Go to Device Options.

  1. The Fire tablet will automatically download any available update. After the updated files have been downloaded, tap on Update.
  2. The device will automatically restart and the Installing System Update message will appear on the screen.
  3. You may return to using your device once the update has finished installing.
