1 Download and Install Firmware

Downloading the Firmware

  1. Open your browser, type in https://us.yuneec.com/downloads-typhoon-q500 and press Enter or Return.

  2. Scroll down and select the CGO3 Camera STD download.

  3. Your download will be a bin file. Keep track of where this file is downloaded, you'll need it in a moment.

Copy Your Firmware to microSD on Windows

Prepare a formatted microSD card with enough available free space than the file.

  1. Insert a microSD card into an available slot on your computer. You may need an adapter.

  2. Open microSD card.

  3. Locate the file that you extracted earlier.

  4. Copy or drag and drop the firmware file to the root of your microSD card. Make sure the file is not inside a folder on the card.

    Root directory = The first or top-most directory in the hierarchy.

Copy Your Firmware to microSD on Mac

Prepare a formatted microSD card with enough available free space than the file.

  1. Insert a microSD card into an available slot on your mac.

  2. Open microSD card.

  3. Drag and drop the firmware file to the root of your microSD card. Make sure the file is not inside a folder on the card

    Root is the first directory or top-most directory in the hierarchy of your drive. For example: The Sandisk 32GB SD Card (H:) would have a root directory of H:.
    If you make sure your file is not within an additional folder, you will be in the root directory.

Installing the Firmware

  1. With your drone off, insert your microSD card into your CGO3 camera.

  2. Power on your drone afterwards by switching the on button on the bottom of the drone.

  3. After powering on your drone you'll notice the camera LED flashing purple. This means your camera is reading the microSD card and updating. The LED will turn off when it is finished.

  4. Power off your drone.

  5. Power your drone on again.

  6. The firmware update is complete.
