How to Set Up Peripherals for DJI Phantom 4 Pro

1. Introduction

In This Guide

You'll Learn:

  • How to set up peripherals for you DJI Drone.

2. Turn On RC & Drone

To complete the following steps, you will need both your remote control and drone handy.

On the Remote Control

  1. Press and release the power button then press it again quickly and hold it until you hear it make the initialization sound.

  1. Make sure the gimbal cover is removed so the gimbal can move freely during the warm-up process.

3. Link RC

The remote control is linked with the drone out of the box. They only need to be linked if you can no longer pilot the drone with the remote control.

To complete the following steps, you will need both your drone and remote control handy.

Ensure the drone and remote control are close to each other.

On the Remote Control

  1. Press and hold the customizable C1 and C2 buttons and the Record button simultaneously until the remote control starts beeping.

  1. Locate the Link button on the left side of the drone, then press and hold it with a pin for two seconds.

  1. The drone and remote control will be linked when the Status Indicator light turns solid green.

4. Turn On RC & Drone

5. Connect Mobile Device to RC

  1. Unfold the mobile device holder.

  1. Press the release button (1) on the holder and extend the clamp (2). If you're using a smartphone, unfold the supporting arms (3) as well.

  1. Place your mobile device into the holder and secure it by pressing down the clamp.

  1. Plug the small end of the provided USB cable into your mobile device.

  1. Then plug the other end of the same cable into the USB port on the rear of the remote control.

6. Extra Batteries

To set up extra batteries for a DJI drone, they have to be fully charged and updated to be compatible with the drone.

7. Charge Battery

  1. Plug the charger into a power outlet.

  1. Plug the battery charging cable into the battery.

  1. If you have more than one battery, plug them all into the charging hub.

  1. You will see the battery indicator lights on the battery scrolling until they will turn off meaning it is fully charged.

8. Reseat/Replace Battery

To reseat or replace the battery you have to perform the same steps:

  1. Notice the buckles on the upper and lower sides of the battery.

  1. Place the back of your hands against the arms of the drone, to use them as leverage, and your index fingers and thumbs on the buckles.

  1. Squeeze the buckles and pull the battery towards you.

  1. Wait 10 seconds.
  2. Slide in the same or replacement battery with the power button on the right side.

  1. Grab the arms of the drone with your fingers for leverage and push the battery with your thumbs downward and to the right until you hear a click.

9. Turn On Drone

  1. Make sure the gimbal cover is removed so the gimbal can move freely during the warm-up process.

10. Connect Mobile Device to Drone

  1. Plug the smaller connector of the provided USB-OTG adapter into the left side of the drone.

  1. Plug the other end of the same cable into the USB-OTG adapter.

11. Launch App

  1. Launch the DJI GO 4 app on your mobile device.

  1. If you're not logged in, tap Sign In.

  1. Fill in your account information and tap Sign In.

12. Update Battery

The drone is powered by an intelligent battery which updates together with the drone. If you have any extra batteries, you will need to insert them one by one into the drone and check if they need to be updated to be compatible with the drone.

Depending on which DJI drone you have, the connected device may show a different name and image. However, the following procedure is the same for all DJI drones.

  1. Replace the drone's battery.
  2. The DJI GO 4 app will be notify you if the battery's firmware is incompatible with the drone's firmware and needs to be updated. Slide the switch to the right side to initiate the update.

  1. The app will notify you the update is in progress.Do not turn off the drone and remote control or exit the mobile app during the update.

  1. Then it will notify you the update was completed.

13. Restart Drone

  1. To turn off the drone, press and release the power button then press it again quickly and hold it until the lights turn off.

15. Charge Battery

  1. Make sure the headband is firmly connected to the goggles body.

  1. Plug the smaller end of the provided USB cable into the headband.

  1. Plug the other end of the same cable into the charger then plug the charger into a power outlet.

  1. The battery indicator lights will start scrolling until they turn off meaning the goggles are charged.

16. Launch App

  1. Launch the DJI Assistant 2 app.

  1. If you don't see your email address in the top right corner, click Login.

  1. Fill in your DJI account information then click Sign In.

17. Prep for Activation with Computer

  1. Press and release the power button, then press it again quickly and hold it for about two seconds to turn on the goggles.

  1. Navigate the goggles interface using the touch panel on the right side. Swipe with one finger up, down, front (for right) and back (for left) to move the selection and tap to choose the selected option.

  1. Choose your preferred Language.

  1. Select Next on the Welcome screen.

  1. Read the Terms of Use, check the box to accept them and select Next.

  1. For the activation type, choose With DJI Assistant 2 then select Next.

  1. Take off the goggles.

  1. Plug the smaller end of the provided USB cable into the headband.

18. Activate Goggles

  1. In the DJI Assistant 2 app, select your goggles under Connected Devices.

  1. You will be prompted to activate the goggles. Click Start Activation.

  1. Make sure your DJI account information is correct and click Confirm Your Account.

  1. Once the goggles are activated, click Complete to finish.

19. Update Goggles

  1. In the DJI Assistant 2 app, select your goggles under Connected Devices.

  1. Look for the Latest Version available in the Firmware List and click Upgrade.

  1. Click Start Update.

  1. Wait for the update to complete. The process may take several minutes to finish.Do not turn off or disconnect the goggles or exit the app during the update.

  1. Once the update is completed, click Back to finish.

20. Connect Goggles

  1. Plug the smaller end of the provided USB cable into the headband.

  1. Once the devices are powered on, you should see the live view of the drone camera in the goggles.

21. Turn On RC & Drone
