How to Set Up iCloud Email on Microsoft Outlook

Introduction

iCloud provides an email service, should you choose to setup an account. This guide will help you setup the Outlook program to access your email.
Before You Begin:
Apple IDVerify Password
Before setting up, take a moment to visit the Apple ID website, and try to log in (sign out then back in if you need to). You will need to remember your password in order to complete setup.

1 iCloud Email Setup for Outlook

Get Your iCloud App Password

Before you add your iCloud account to Outlook, you'll need to generate an app password from the iCloud website. After you have that app password, you can add your iCloud account to Outlook. An app password is a one-time password that you'll use in place of your regular iCloud email password. It lets iCloud confirm that you're the person accessing your email.
  1. Open web browser and navigate to https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage
  2. Log in to Apple ID.

  3. Scroll down to the Security section.

  4. Under APP-SPECIFIC PASSWORDS, click Generate Password.
  5. Type a name for the application, such as Windows Mail, then click Create.

  6. Select the password text and right-click, copy it.

    It is very important that you copy this password before clicking "Done" as you cannot access it later. 

     

Set Up iCloud in Outlook

Now that you've got your App-Specific Password you can use it to set up iCloud in Outlook.

  1. Open Outlook.

  2. Click the File menu.

  3. Click Add Account.

  4. Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.

  5. Select POP or IMAP. Click Next.

  6. Within POP and IMAP Account Settings, fill out Your Name and full Email Address.
  7. For Server Information, select IMAP for Account Type. Incoming mail server should be set to imap.mail.me.com, and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be set to smtp.mail.me.com.

  8. Next to Logon Information, fill in your User Name and Password and put a check next to Remember password. Then click the More Settings button.

  9. Go to the Outgoing Server tab. Enable My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.

  10. Go to the Advanced tab. For port settings, set Incoming server (IMAP) to 993 with SSL encryption, then set Outgoing server (SMTP) to 587 with TLS encryption.

  11. Click OK then Next when finished.
  12. Click Close if the account logs in properly.
  13. Click Finish.
    Click finish.
