How to Set Up Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones

Introduction

This guide will walk you through the basic setup of your Bose SoundSport wireless headphones.

1 Charge

This device will not function while charging.

  1. Plug the USB cable into the bottom of the right earbud.
    USB cable being plugged into Bose headphones.
  2. Plug the other end of the cable into a wall charger powered USB port.
    • While charging the light will blink amber. When it's fully charged it will change to green.
    • When using the device, the power will be green, amber, or red depending on the charge.

2 Power

Power on

  1. Press the Power/Bluetooth button until the battery indicator is green, yellow, or red.

Power off

  1. Press and hold the Power/Bluetooth button until the battery indicator blinks 3 times and turns off. You'll hear a power down tone.

3 Change Language

By default, voice prompts are in English. You may change the language the first time the headset is powered on.

  1. Use the + and - buttons to change languages.
  2. Press the Multi-function button to confirm your selection.

4 Pairing Mode

  1. Ensure the headset is powered on.
  2. Press and hold the Power/Bluetooth button until you hear "Ready to pair" or the Bluetooth indicator blinks blue.

Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar to all Android devices and generations.

From any Android Device

  1. Open the App Drawer.

    Newer versions of Android's operating system may not have the app drawer button. If you do not see the button, you will simply swipe up from the bottom of your screen to get to your apps.

  2. Go to Settings.
    Android Settings.
  3. Tap Bluetooth. You may need to select Connections first.

  4. Set the Bluetooth accessory in pairing/discovery mode.

    This process will vary depending on what kind of device you have. Refer to your device's documentation for specifics on how to accomplish this.

  5. Ensure Bluetooth is On and then select your device from the list below.

    Some Bluetooth accessories are configured with a PIN or a passkey that is often listed in its manual. Check your Bluetooth accessory manual for the correct PIN or passkey.

  1. Open Play Store.
    Google Play Store icon.
  2. Type Bose Connect in the search bar and tap Install.

  3. Once installed, tap Open to proceed to the setup.

Update firmware:

  1. Launch the Bose Connect app from your home screen.

  2. If you have an available update, you will seen an icon indicating a firmware update. Tap the icon to start the update process.

  3. Once the update is done downloading, it will start updating your headset.

Modify Settings:

  1. Open the Bose Connect app from the home screen.

  2. Tap on the settings cog.

  3. You can now modify settings for your headphones.

Some Bluetooth accessories are configured with a PIN or a passkey that is often listed in its information manual. Check your Bluetooth accessory documentation for the correct PIN or passkey.

From Any iOS Device (iPod, iPad, iPhone)

  1. Open Settings
    iOS Settings.
  2. Then Bluetooth.

  3. Set the Bluetooth accessory in pairing/discovery mode.
  4. Wait for your iOS device to display the detected Bluetooth accessory.

  5. Select the Bluetooth accessory to pair it with the iOS device.
    • If a PIN or passkey is required, you will be prompted to enter it.
    • If there is no passkey, your Bluetooth accessory should connect without issue.
  1. Open the App Store.

  2. Type in "Bose Connect" in the search bar.
  3. Find Bose Connect in the search results and tap on GET.

  4. Tap on Install to start download.
