How to Set Up a YUNEEC Typhoon 4K Drone

In This Guide
You'll Learn How To:
  • Charge your Typhoon 4k and remote control.
  • Prepare your Typhoon's CGO2 camera for flight.
  • Install your drone's propellers.
  • Install your battery.
Before We Begin:
  • Have a working outlet to charge your Yuneec Typhoon 4k.
  • Carefully unbox your drone.

1 Safety First

As with all Drone flying, please keep the following in mind:

  • Make sure you are properly registered with the Federal Aviation Administration, or qualify to fly without registration.
  • Make sure you have permission to fly from the person or group that owns the land you'll be over.
  • Make sure you are in-touch with the control tower before flying near an airport.
  • Make sure there's no obstructions, such as power lines or trees, above your flight area that could cause problems.
  • Make sure there's no one below your flight area that could be hurt.
  • Make sure you are not near government infrastructure or other sensitive properties.
  • Make sure the weather is safe to fly in.
  • Make sure you keep your drone in your sight at all times, and get help from an observer if necessary.

How to Charge Your Battery

  1. Plug your Balancing Charger into your Power Supply.

  2. Plug your Power Supply into a working outlet.

  3. The LED on your Balancing Charger will begin blinking green. This means it is receiving power and ready to charge.

  4. Plug the charging Balance Connector into the Balancing Charger. Plug the other end into your Battery.

  5. The LED on your Balancing Charger will begin blinking Red to show it is charging.

A depleted battery will take two hours to charge.

How to Charge Your Remote Control

  1. Plug your USB cable into the Charger Adapter and the Charger Adapter into the wall.

  2. Plug the micro-USB connector into the side of the ST10+.

  3. After several seconds, the battery LED will begin flashing blue.

3 Prepare the Camera

Before installing the flight battery and powering on the TYPHOON you MUST remove the cover/lock from the rear of the CGO3 by carefully sliding it backward. Failure to remove the cover/lock can result in damage to the TYPHOON and the CGO3.

  1. Remove the locking cover from the rear of the CGO3 camera by carefully sliding it backward.

  2. Slide the microSD card into the corresponding slot on the bottom of the CGO3.

  3. Carefully remove the protective film from the camera lens.

4 Install the Propellers

How to Match Engines to Propellers

  • Each engine is designated with a letter.

  • Each propeller has a matching letter.

How to Attach Propellers to the Engines

  1. Pair the A propellers with the A engines.
  2. Pair the B propellers with the B engines.
  3. Using the supplied tool, hold the engine still as you rotate the propellers into place.

  4. The A propellers need to be rotated counterclockwise. The B propellers need to be rotated clockwise.

Do not over-tighten the propellers.

5 Install the Battery

If the door does not close, the battery is not inserted far enough to engage the connector properly.

  1. Pull down the back panel.
  2. Slide the battery all the way inside.
  3. Close the back panel.
