How to record your screen on an iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone

Introduction

If you have ever wanted to save a recording of your phone screen or share it with someone, you can learn how with this tutorial! Apple's screen record feature also captures sound too! This guide will walk you through enabling the feature and show you how to record and save the video, quickly and easily.

1 Enable the Recording feature

To access & make use of the recording feature, it must be added to the Control Center first.

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap Control Center.

2 Add "Screen Recording" icon to Control Center

  1. Scroll down until you see the icon for Screen Recording, and add it by tapping the green plus sign to include it in your Control Center.Screen Recording
  2. The Screen Recording feature will be added to the Include section of customize controls. You can remove included features by tapping the red minus sign, and rearrange features by dragging the three grey horizontal lines to the right.Customize Control Center

3 Begin Recording

  1. To begin recording, go to the screen that you are wanting to record.

  2. Depending on your device, you will pull up your Control Center differently.
    • If you have an iPhone 8 or older device, swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
    • If you have an iPad that is running iOS 12 or later, or an iPhone X or newer model, then you will need to swipe down from the upper right corner.

  3. Tap the Record button. Once you tap the Record button, you will have a three second countdown before recording starts.

  4. The top of your screen will be red while recording is active. To stop recording, tap the red portion of the screen.Screen Record

4 Saving your recording

  1. Once you have stopped recording, the recorded video will be stored in your device's Camera Roll.Stop Recording
  2. To access your recording, tap the Photos icon.

  3. When you tap the Photos Icon, you will be able to access all your photos and videos. You will find your recording in your most recent save history.
