How to Program a Comcast Xfinity X1 Remote

Introduction

When you've got the Comcast Xfinity service, you'll be given their universal remote. This remote can be used with most of your entertainment devices like your TV Box, Television, or Receiver.

What Type of Remote do You Have?

To get started, we need to determine whether or not your remote control has a setup button.

Remotes with Setup Buttons

XR11, XR5 Remote

1 How to Pair an X1 Remote to an Xfinity TV Box

Your Xfinity X1 Remote can only be paired with one TV Box at a time. If you wish to pair it with another box you'll need to repeat the pairing steps. 

  1. Turn your television on.
    Power icon
  2. Make sure it is on the right input for your TV Box.

  3. On your remote, press and hold the Setup button.

  4. If you don't have a setup button you can press and hold the Xfinity and Info(i) buttons together.

  5. The LED at the top of the remote will change from red to green.

  6. Press the Xfinity button.

  7. A 3-digit code will appear on your television's screen. Using the remote, input the code.

  8. Your television will tell you when the remote has paired.

  9. Press the OK button on your remote to finish.

2 How to Pair an X1 Remote to an AVR or Television

Pairing your remote to your television or AVR unit will allow you to turn off your television and AVR, select inputs, and adjust the volume.

  1. Manufacturer codes tell the remote what decide they are pairing with. You can often find them with your remote or component device's documentation.

  2. You can also navigate to xfinity.com/remotes to find a list of codes.

How to Use Xfinity's Remote Code Lookup

  1. Navigate to xfinity.com/remotes.

  2. Select your remote and then click Continue.

  3. Select the type of device you would like to control.

  4. Select the brand of the device.

  5. Click Continue.

  6. The next page will give you the most likely codes.

If You Have Your Manufacturer Code

  1. Turn your television on.

  2. On your remote, press and hold the Setup button.

  3. If you don't have a setup button you can press and hold the Xfinity and Info(i) buttons together.

  4. The LED at the top of the remote will change from red to green.

  5. Type in the code you found in the previous step using your remote's number pad.

  6. When your remote has been successfully paired, the LED at the top will flash green twice.

  7. Press CH^ (Channel Up) multiple times until the TV turns off.

  9. Press the TV Power button on the remote. If the TV turns on, you have successfully programmed your remote to control your TV.
