How to Pair Canon EOS Rebel T7i to a Phone or Tablet

Introduction

Bluetooth pairing lets you connect your EOS camera to a smartphone or tablet which has the Canon Camera Connect app installed. When the app is active it switches from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi to allow a compatible smartphone or tablet to view images on the camera or to remotely control the camera.

1 Pair

This camera can be paired to Android and iOS devices. In order to do so we must place the camera in pairing mode and then connect it using your phone/tablet.

The Wireless Remote Control BR-E1 is an optional accessory you can purchase to control your device over Bluetooth. When connected it will run. Even when the camera is powered off.

  1. Tap the Menu button

Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar to all Android devices and generations.

From any Android Device

  1. Open the App Drawer.

    Newer versions of Android's operating system may not have the app drawer button. If you do not see the button, you will simply swipe up from the bottom of your screen to get to your apps.

  2. Go to Settings.
    Android Settings.
  3. Tap Bluetooth. You may need to select Connections first.

  4. Set the Bluetooth accessory in pairing/discovery mode.

    This process will vary depending on what kind of device you have. Refer to your device's documentation for specifics on how to accomplish this.

  5. Ensure Bluetooth is On and then select your device from the list below.

    Some Bluetooth accessories are configured with a PIN or a passkey that is often listed in its manual. Check your Bluetooth accessory manual for the correct PIN or passkey.

From Any iOS Device (iPod, iPad, iPhone)

  1. Open Settings
    iOS Settings.
  2. Then Bluetooth.

  3. Set the Bluetooth accessory in pairing/discovery mode.
  4. Wait for your iOS device to display the detected Bluetooth accessory.

  5. Select the Bluetooth accessory to pair it with the iOS device.
    • If a PIN or passkey is required, you will be prompted to enter it.
    • If there is no passkey, your Bluetooth accessory should connect without issue.
