How to Pair Bluetooth Devices to an Amazon Echo

Introduction

Amazon Alexa devices allow you to stream audio through other speakers that are paired through Bluetooth.

Before you start:

  • Place the Echo device and Bluetooth speaker at least three feet apart. When the Echo device is close to external speakers, it may be more difficult for Alexa to hear the wake word and other requests.
  • For best results, use a Bluetooth speaker certified for use with Echo devices. For more information, visit the Amazon Support page titled "Certified Speakers and Supported Bluetooth Profiles for Echo Devices"
  • Make sure you can pair the speaker to other Bluetooth devices, like a mobile phone.
  • Turn the Bluetooth speaker on and turn the volume up.
  • Disconnect any other Bluetooth devices from the Echo device. Echo Devices can only connect with one Bluetooth device at a given time.

Echo devices don't support Bluetooth speakers that require a PIN to pair.
