Introduction

1 Harmony Remote Type

Logitech has made Harmony remotes for a very long time. Because of this, determining exactly what software you need can be daunting for some.

If you aren't sure which Harmony Remote you have, look at the back for the model number, and make sure it looks like the images shown.

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication method, and can be turned on and off easily because it does take battery power.

  2. At the bottom of the Notifications Center, make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

  3. Once turned on, a new Bluetooth icon will appear in your System Tray, to make it easier to control your Bluetooth-connected devices.

  1. Open the Apple menu, then select System Preferences.

  4. It is also recommended to select Show Bluetooth in menu bar, to make it easier to manage your Bluetooth devices in the future.

  5. You may then access Bluetooth from the menu bar on the top-right at any time to manage your devices.

Every Android device is slightly different because of manufacturer and carrier customizations and launchers. While the icons and exact layout shown may be slightly different, they will be extremely similar.
  1. Open Settings, and select Connected Devices.

  1. Open Settings on your phone or tablet, and select Wi-Fi.

Harmony

The MyHarmony Desktop program allows you to control your Logitech Harmony remote system is available on most computers.

  3. Carefully read the Software License Agreement. If you agree and are ready to continue, select Download MyHarmony.

  4. Once the download is complete, open the downloaded file.

  5. A welcome message is displayed, select Next.

  6. The Installer will ask where you'd like to install, and who will have access. For most people, the defaults are fine, select Next.

  7. The Installer is ready to install the MyHarmony software now, select Next.

  1. Open your preferred browser, and go to the MyHarmony Download page.

  3. Carefully read the Software License Agreement. If you agree and are ready to continue, select Download MyHarmony.

    You may be prompted to allow the website to download files, depending on your settings. Select Allow.

  4. Once complete, open the downloaded disk image file.

  5. Open the MyHarmony Setup package.

  6. A welcome screen is displayed, select Continue.

  7. The default installation location is fine, select Install.

  8. macOS will ask your permission to perform the install. Enter your Mac's password and select Install Software.

  9. Once the install is complete, select Close.

  10. With the install complete, you don't need the installer any longer. Select Move to Trash.

  1. Open MyHarmony, and select Login with Email.

  2. Select Create Account at the bottom.

  3. Fill in your First Name, Last Name, and Email address. Create a Password and enter it twice. Carefully read the Terms of Use and Privacy policy, and if you agree and are ready to continue, place a check mark next to the agreement option and select Next.

  4. You will be asked which kind of remote you have. Select the category with your remote listed, then carefully follow the instructions on screen to connect your remote and finish setting up the program.

  4. You will be asked to plug in and place the Blaster and mini-blaster, the hubs that come with your Harmony Express remote. Plug in and place both and select Continue.

  6. Setup will locate both the Blaster and mini-blaster units. Follow the instructions on your mobile device to complete setup.

The Logitech Remote Software 7 program allows you to control your Logitech Harmony remote system is available on most computers.

  7. You'll be asked what components you want to install, the default to install everything is fine, select Install.

  12. Certain Harmony remotes require an update to work properly. If you have a Harmony 900, 1000, or 1100 remote, connect your remote to your computer now, then select OK.

  13. The Harmony Remote requires a specific version of the Remote Control USB driver. Windows comes with one, but it must be removed so the special one for the Harmony Remote can be installed. You'll be asked if you want to remove the driver, select Yes.

  14. The new driver will be installed, then Windows will detect it and open the Installation Wizard. Select Next.

  15. The install will go very quickly. When complete, select Finish.

  10. The default installation location is fine for most people. Select Install.

  11. Your Mac will ask your permission to allow the install. Enter your Mac's Password, then select Install Software.

  13. With the software installed, you do not need the installer package any longer. Select Move to Trash.

  1. Open Remote Software 7 and select Create New Account.

  2. Certain models of the remote use a different version. A quick check is performed to make sure you don't have one of the remotes that uses a different version. Select No.

  3. Create a Login ID, password and enter it twice. Create a security question and answer, in case you forget your password in the future. Carefully read the Terms of Use and Privacy policy, and place a check if you agree with them. Then, select Next.

  4. Each remote will be different. From here, follow the instructions on your screen to complete setup of your remote with the software.
