How to Free Up Storage Drive Space on iPhone or iPad

Introduction

As you use your device, files and apps will eventually accumulate, leaving you with less free space for new content. Once you know how much available storage you have, you can use various methods to free up space on your device.

1 Delete an App (From Storage)

  1. Go to Settings.
    iOS Settings.
  2. Select General.

  3. Tap on your device's Storage.
  4. The amount of storage used will be shown near the top. Below that you may see a list of recommendations for optimizing your device's storage, followed by a list of installed apps and the amount of storage each one uses.

  5. Tap on the app that you wish to remove.
  6. Tap the Delete App button on the next screen. Accept any prompts.
  7. Go back to the previous screen and repeat for as many apps you wish to remove.

2 Delete an App (Tap)

To remove an app:

  1. From your main screen, locate the app you wish to remove.
  2. Lightly touch and hold the app until it jiggles or vibrates.
  3. Tap X in the upper-left corner of the app.
  4. Tap Delete.

3 Enable

iCloud will automatically enable when you log in with your Apple ID for the first time.

You can manually sign in to iCloud, iTunes and App Store, iMessage, FaceTime, and your other Apple services in one place.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Sign in to your [device].
  3. Enter your Apple ID and password. If you don't have an Apple ID, tap Don't have an Apple ID or forgot it? and follow the on-screen prompts to set up your free Apple ID account.
  4. If you protect your account with two-factor authentication, enter the six-digit verification code and complete sign in.

4 iCloud Manage Storage

To manage storage space for iCloud:

  1. Go to Settings.
    iOS Settings.
  2. Select your Apple ID.

  3. Select iCloud.

  4. You should see an overview of your current iCloud storage. Select Manage Storage to proceed.

  5. A similar overview of iCloud storage will appear. Underneath this overview will be a list of apps that are consuming the greatest amount of storage space on your device. You can select one of these apps to manage data as you see fit.

  6. If after evaluating your device's storage usage, you feel that upgrading your iCloud Drive's storage capacity would be best, select Change Storage Plan to explore additional storage options.

  7. Select a Storage Plan that works best for you and your devices. It can be purchased directly from your device and will immediately expand your iCloud Drive's storage capacity.

  3. Select Dropbox in the search results.

  1. You can sign in using your existing Gmail account or create a new one by signing up.

  2. Put a check on the box that says I agree then tap Create Account.

  3. Once signed in, you may now use the app.

  1. Open the App Store.

  2. Search for the OneDrive App.
  3. Select OneDrive in the search results.

  2. Tap on the Sign In to login to your OneDrive account.

  3. Type in your email address, then Tap on the arrow pointing right.

  4. Type in your password then, tap on Sign In.

  5. Once signed in, you will be able to start using One Drive by tapping the plus sign (+)
