If you feel your download speeds are slow, or that you aren't getting the speeds you pay for on a monthly basis from your ISP, there are a number of factors that could have an impact on this. When possible, you should test your connection using an Ethernet cable instead of a Wi-Fi connection. If your speeds are still slow, you could have an issue with your ISP, or the Xbox Live service could be having issues.

When in doubt, always contact your ISP directly to ensure that your internet service is not the source of your issue.

To check current download speeds:

  1. Open My games & apps.
Xbox one home page showing my games and apps highlighted.
  2. Check the Queue section.
Xbox my games and apps page with queue highlighted.
    • The Game or App that is actively being installed will have a download speed indicator.
    • Download speeds are typically measured in Megabytes per second (MB/s).

The table below displays a rough estimate of download completion times based on the size of the file being downloaded and the speed of your connection. Faster download speeds will download data more quickly. Contact your ISP directly to determine what speeds your internet service provides to your home.

Current Download Speed 30Gb File 60Gb File
2Mb/s 33.3 hours 66.7 hours
10 Mb/s 6.7 hours 13.3 hours
200 Mb/s 0.3 hours 0.7 hours
