This guide will take you through the steps to resolve this issue.

2 Power Reset

There are three ways to power reset your Android TV. Expand the instructions below to view the method you prefer. If one method doesn't work, try another method.

  1. Press and hold the Power button on the remote control for about five seconds.

  2. The Power off message will show up on the screen and the TV will turn off.

  3. Wait for the TV to automatically turn back on after about a minute.
    • If it doesn't, press the Power button on the remote.

3 Update

  1. Push the Home button on your remote.

  5. Here you'll be shown if your Android TV system is up to date, and when it was last checked. Select Check for update if you wish to verify.

  5. Here you'll be shown if your Android TV system is up to date, and when it was last checked. Select Check for update if you wish to verify.

  1. Push the Home button on your remote.

  4. Make sure your TV shows as connected.

This will remove any and all customizations from your Smart TV, and require it to be re-setup, re-customized, and reconnected to the Internet.

There are two ways to factory reset your Android TV. Expand the instructions below to view the method that fits your needs:

  • If your TV starts up normally and you can see the home screen, choose the menu reset method.
  • If your TV doesn't start up at all or keeps restarting in a loop, choose the forced reset method.

    The forced factory reset method is only available for TVs running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher. If your results aren't satisfactory, you will need to perform a factory reset through the menu as well.

  7. Your TV should begin the factory reset process. Once it has completed, it should behave as if it was just taken out of the box and powered up for the first time.

This reset requires specific timing while holding buttons on the television itself. You may need a second person to perform this reset.

  1. Unplug your television's power cord from the electrical outlet.

  2. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons on the rear of your television.
    If your TV has 4 buttons

  3. While still holding down the buttons, plug your television's power cord back into the electrical outlet.
    Plug into outlet.
  4. Continue holding the buttons for up to 30 seconds until the LED light on your television turns green, then release the buttons.
