This guide will take you through some troubleshooting steps to fix basic issues you may encounter with the Sony Music Center app, such as the app not launching or not working as intended on your phone or tablet.
Before You Begin:

The Sony Music Center app can manage a wide range of Sony devices such as: headphones, portable speakers, soundbars, audio/video receivers, home audio/theater systems, blu-ray players, portable music players, clock speakers and car stereos. Each device is powered up and connects differently to your phone or tablet running the Sony Music Center app. Before troubleshooting the app, turn your Sony device off and back on then make sure it is connected to your phone or tablet running the app.

  1. Tap Recent Apps at the bottom of the screen.

    The Recent Apps button may be located on either the bottom left or bottom right as either an onscreen button or a physical button. If you're unsure which button it is, please refer to the user manual of your android device.

  2. Either tap the X or swipe to the side to close an app.

  1. Hold down the power button on your Android device.

    Depending on the manufacturer and model of Android device you have, the location of the power button will vary.
  2. Select Power Off.

    If the menu does not pop up, continue to hold the power button, and your Android device will shut off.
  3. Wait 30 seconds.

  4. Push and hold the Power button for a few moments, and your Android device will start back up.

Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar across all Android devices and generations.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select Wi-Fi.

  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is set to On at the top.

  4. Your Android device will automatically connect to the network if there is no security enabled, or you have connected to it in the past. The Wi-Fi network name will show Connected underneath.

To Connect to a New Network

If you're connecting to a particular Wi-Fi network for the first time:

  1. Select the connection from the list.

  2. Enter the password for the network, then select Connect.

To Connect to a Hidden Network

If the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect to is a hidden network, it won't appear in the list of available networks. However, if you know the network's exact name and password, it can be added manually.

  1. Select Add network.

  2. Enter the Network Name (also called the SSID) you wish to connect to, the type of Security it uses (usually WPA2), and the Password for the network, then select Save.

  1. Open the Play Store.

  2. At the top, choose the three bars on the left of the search line.

  4. Choose Update All.

Method 1:

  1. From the home screen, press the menu button.
  2. Locate the Sony Music Center app.

  3. Press and hold your finger on the Sony Music Center app.
  4. Drag it to the icon on the top of your screen where it says "Uninstall".

  5. Tap on OKto confirm your action.

Method 2:

  1. From the home screen, press the menu button.
  2. Choose Settings.

  4. Find the Sony Music Center app, then tap on it.

  5. Tap Uninstall.

  6. Tap on OK to confirm your action.

  1. Launch the Play Store on your smartphone.
    Google Play Store.
  2. Tap in the search box at the top of the screen.

  3. Type "Sony | Music Center (SongPal)" in the search bar and tap Install.

  4. Once installed, tap Open to proceed to the setup.

  1. Open the Music Center app from your home screen.

  2. Select Agree and Start.

  4. Your device should show up in the list if you're already paired the device. If you don't see it listed then select the plus button and follow the on screen directions to pair your device.

  5. Once your device is added you can go into Settings to manage options for your device.

The way to show all running apps on an iOS device varies with the model you have:

  • Older iOS devices, up to the iPhone X, still come equipped with a circular home button beneath the screen.
  • Newer iOS devices, beginning with the iPhone X, no longer come equipped with the circular home button beneath the screen.

On iOS Devices with a Home Button

  1. Double-press the Home button quickly.

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen.

  1. You will now see a list of apps that are currently open. Swipe up on any of the apps to close them.

  1. Hold down the lock / power button.
  2. Slide to power off when prompted.
  3. Wait until the phone is off.
  4. Hold down the lock / power button until you see the Apple logo.

Depending on what iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be the same across all iOS devices and generations.

  1. Open Settings.

    Next to the icon you will see one of following statuses:

    • Off - Wi-Fi feature is disabled
    • Not Connected - Wi-Fi connection is not established
    • [Network Name] - Wi-Fi connection is established
  3. Make sure that the Wi-Fi feature is enabled by flipping the toggle switch to the On position.

  4. Your iOS device will automatically connect to the closest network you have connected to it in the past. The checkmark indicates you are connected.

To Connect to a New Network

If you're connecting to a Wi-Fi network for the first time:

  1. Select the Network Name from the list.

  1. Select Other...

  1. When an update is available the App Store will show a red circle next to it. Open the App Store.

  2. Choose Updates at the bottom, then choose Update All on the top-right.

  1. From your main screen, locate the Sony Music Center app.

  2. Lightly touch and hold the app until it jiggles or vibrates.
  3. Tap X in the upper-left corner of the app.
  4. Tap Delete.

  3. Type in "Sony | Music Center (SongPal)" in the search bar.
  4. Find Sony | Music Center (SongPal) in the search results and tap on Get.
