1 Wi-Fi Check

In order for the Asus Extender app to work properly, you'll need to be connected to your home's Wi-Fi network with the Range Extender installed.

You can connect to the Wi-Fi network coming from your home's Wireless Router, or the Range Extender's Wi-Fi network. Either one will work.

In order for the Asus Extender app to work properly, you'll need to be connected to your home's Wi-Fi network with the Range Extender installed.

You can connect to the Wi-Fi network coming from your home's Wireless Router, or the Range Extender's Wi-Fi network. Either one will work.

  1. Turn off your range extender.

  2. Wait ten seconds.

  3. Turn the power back on, and make sure the power light goes on.

  4. Wait one minute for the Range extender to start back up fully.

  5. Make sure your smartphone, computer, or other device has re-connected to your Range Extender's Wi-Fi Network.
  1. Open the Asus Extender app.

  2. Make sure the Network Map at the top lists or acknowledges your range extender being present.

The next step is to factory reset and re-setup your Range Extender.
You will need to re-setup the Range Extender from the beginning, as if it were new.
We have a guide available to help you through the process.
  1. Have your Range Extender plugged in and turned on.
  2. Using a straightened paperclip, push and hold the reset switch for about two seconds.

  3. Release the reset switch.
  4. After about five seconds, the Network light will start flashing slowly to indicate the range extender is ready to be setup again.

To continue, we need to know what Operating System your smartphone or tablet has.

There are 2 main Operating Systems for smartphones currently available, Android and iOS.

Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar across all Android devices and generations.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select Wi-Fi.

  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is set to On at the top.

  4. Your Android device will automatically connect to the network if there is no security enabled, or you have connected to it in the past. The Wi-Fi network name will show Connected underneath.

To Connect to a New Network

If you're connecting to a particular Wi-Fi network for the first time:

  1. Select the connection from the list.

  2. Enter the password for the network, then select Connect.

To Connect to a Hidden Network

If the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect to is a hidden network, it won't appear in the list of available networks. However, if you know the network's exact name and password, it can be added manually.

  1. Select Add network.

  2. Enter the Network Name (also called the SSID) you wish to connect to, the type of Security it uses (usually WPA2), and the Password for the network, then select Save.

  2. Make sure the Network Map at the top lists or acknowledges your range extender being present.

Depending on what iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be the same across all iOS devices and generations.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select Wi-Fi.

    Next to the icon you will see one of following statuses:

    • Off - Wi-Fi feature is disabled
    • Not Connected - Wi-Fi connection is not established
    • [Network Name] - Wi-Fi connection is established
  3. Make sure that the Wi-Fi feature is enabled by flipping the toggle switch to the On position.

  4. Your iOS device will automatically connect to the closest network you have connected to it in the past. The checkmark indicates you are connected.

To Connect to a New Network

If you're connecting to a Wi-Fi network for the first time:

  1. Select the Network Name from the list.

  2. Enter the Password if required then select Join.

To Connect to a Hidden Network

  1. Select Other...
