How to Fix Issues with Apps on an Amazon Fire Tablet

Introduction

Follow these steps to repair issues with apps if it crashes or won't open on your Amazon Fire tablet.

What you need before you start:

  • Your device needs to be fully charged
  • Your device needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network

1 Turn Off Parental Control

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Parental Controls.

  4. If parental control are On, tap Off.

  5. Enter your parental control PIN or password if you have any. (Different from your lock screen password or PIN.)

  3. Tap Sync and Check for New Items.

  4. If there's any update, wait for it to download and install.

  3. Tap Applications.
    Applications option highlighted on Settings screen.

  4. Tap Installed Applications.
    Installed Applications option highlighted on Applications screen.

  5. Select the app that you want to stop.
  6. Tap Force stop.
    Force Stop option highlighted on Application Details screen.

  7. Tap OK to confirm.

  8. Tap Clear Data.
    Clear Data option highlighted on Application Details screen.
  9. Tap OK to confirm.

If a paid app is uninstalled and you want to download it again, you can get it from the Cloud or from the Amazon App store on your device.

To uninstall from Manage Applications:

  1. Swipe downwards from the top side of the screen.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap Applications.

  4. Tap Manage All Applications.

  5. Under Third-Party Applications.

  6. Select Uninstall.

To uninstall from the Amazon Cloud:

Amazon's Cloud also offers a way to uninstall Apps. The Cloud saves data online, allowing you to access it anywhere.

  1. Log in to your Amazon account and visit Manage Your Content and Devices page.
  2. Select Actions.
  3. Select Delete.

You may need to restart your Kindle Fire after deleting an app to update the content of your storage device.

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 40 seconds or until the device restarts automatically.
  2. If your device does not automatically restart after 40 seconds, press the Power button to turn it on.
