1 Restart Smart Light

In most cases, restarting the smart light or plug is enough to bring it back online and working properly again.

Do Not Skip This Step!

It is critically important you don't dismiss or skip over this first step, even if it seems too simple to fix the problem.

  1. Turn off the power to your smart device. This may mean flipping the switch or unplugging the device, depending.
    Light Switch Off
  2. Wait 30 seconds.

2 Reset HomeKit System

Sometimes, your various accessories and devices connected to your HomeKit system can become badly out-of-sync to a point where multiple problems start happening. Carefully resetting your entire HomeKit system, focusing on the misbehaving accessories, can help deal with this problem and get everything back up and working.

  1. Turn off the power to any Accessories that are having problems.
Normally, you leave the power to these on, but we are turning them off as part of the troubleshooting process. We will turn them back on at the end.
    Light Switch Off
  2. Turn off your HomeKit Hub.
This could be your iPad or iPhone you leave at home, or your Apple TV or HomePod speaker.
  3. Turn off your modem and/or router.
These are the boxes for your Internet service; all of your connected devices use your home network eventually, it may be having problems, and power cycling it can resolve these issues.
    Unplugging from outlet.
  4. Wait 30 seconds.

  10. Try using your HomeKit devices again.

3 Reset Check

Our next step is to factory reset the Sylvania Smart+ device to factory defaults, then re-setup the device.

You will need to go through and re-setup the device as if you first purchased it after this process.

  2. Scan the setup code for the product.
There are a few different types of setup code currently available for Apple HomeKit enabled products.
    Simple Setup Code

You'll find this either on the box your Accessory came in, or on the back or side of the device itself.

    Advanced Setup Code

Advanced Setup CodeSome devices require further information, and that's provided through a more complex-looking, machine readable code, called a QR code. This provides the extra setup information your iOS device needs, but keeps the process just as simple as pointing the camera at it.

    Proximity Scanning

Proximity Scan SymbolSome devices have a small radio-activated chip in them, instead. This provides a wealth of handshake and setup information with even less work for you. Simply hold your phone or tablet next to the device, and it will be detected and setup instantly.

  3. You'll be asked to enter the details about the device, such as what room the device is in, the name you want to give it. Enter this information so it's easier to find in the future.

Your device should be paired and working properly once again!

If you are still having problems or are unable to factory reset your Sylvania bulb or device, it means there is something else wrong with the bulb or device itself. You will need to contact Sylvania, or the place you purchased your Sylvania product from, for further assistance in either repairing, or replacing it.
