Before we begin:

  • Make sure the device you're trying to connect your Amazon Echo to is turned on, and has enough battery charge.
  • Bluetooth reaches about 30 feet without any obstruction, and much less if it's trying to go through walls.
  • Finally, if the device is a phone or tablet, make sure Bluetooth radio is turned on.

It is important to ensure that your Bluetooth devices are within range of the device you wish to connect to before proceeding further.

  • Bluetooth connection range is often limited to 10 meters or 32 feet.
  • A distance less than 12 inches can sometimes cause issues.
  • Physical obstacles, like walls, drastically reduce Bluetooth signal strength and range.
  • Electronic interference with neighboring radio, microwave, and cellular signals can potentially cause interference issues.
Say "Alexa, connect" to reconnect your Amazon Echo device to the last device it was connected to with Bluetooth.

For Amazon Tap:

  2. Select your Amazon Tap device.
  3. Select Bluetooth > Clear.

For Echo devices:

  1. Open the Alexa app, go to the menu, and select Settings.
  2. Select your device.

  1. Say, "Go to settings," or swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings.
  2. Select Bluetooth.
  3. Select the "info" icon next to the device name, then select Forget Device. Repeat this step for all other Bluetooth devices in the list.
