1 Check Outages
It's best to be certain there's no outage in your area before performing any troubleshooting steps.
- Open your preferred browser on your computer or mobile device.
- Type in https://www.xfinity.com/support/status and press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
- Select Sign In at the top.
- Select if you wish to use your Xfinity Username & Password, or Mobile phone number to sign in with, then select Continue.
This guide assumes you're using your Xfinity Username and Password. Follow the instructions on your screen if you choose to use your Mobile phone number, instead.
- Enter your Xfinity Username and Password, then select Sign In.
- Look on the map for any outages covering your home.

- If an outage is shown, you can select it for further information including what services are affected, and the estimated time till it's repaired.

If you have access to it, the help menu is an easy way to reboot your DVR Box.
- Press the help menu. Look for the "A" button in the triangle.
XR15 Remote XR11, XR5 Remote XR2 Remote Silver Remote - Under Troubleshooting, select Restart.
- Select Restart to confirm.
Try bringing up a few channels, and use the other features of your Comcast DVR.
If you can't reach the Help Menu or the Help Menu doesn't work, you can use the button the front of the DVR.
- Push and hold the Power Button on the front of your cable box for 10 seconds.
Motorola DCH3416, DCH6416 Motorola DCT3400 Motorola DCT6208, DCT6412 Motorola RNG200N Motorola DCX3400 - The cable box will restart. Allow a few minutes for the cable box to finish starting back up.
If neither the Help Menu nor the Power Button works, you should just remove the power plug from the box.
- Unplug your cable box.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Plug your cable box back in.
- Push the Power Button on your remote to turn your cable box back on.
- The cable box will restart. Allow a few minutes for the cable box to finish starting back up.
