How to Factory Reset a Fitbit Charge Fitness Band

Introduction

Many issues can be fixed by simply restarting your tracker. A factory reset is an involved troubleshooting step and should only be used as a final resort. After exhausting all other options, follow these steps to factory reset your Fitbit Charge.

Be sure to sync before completing the next steps. A factory reset will delete any stored data.

1 Factory Reset

  1. Plug in your Fitbit Charge and connect it to a USB port.

  2. Press the button on your tracker and hold. After about two seconds and while still holding the button, remove the tracker from the charger.

  3. Wait seven to nine seconds. Let go of the button.
  4. Press the button. Hold it down until you see "ALT" and a white screen flash.

  5. Press the button. Hold it until you feel a vibration.
  6. Press the button again. Hold it until you see "ERROR."

  7. Press the button again. Hold it down until you see "ERASE."

  8. As you let go of the button, your tracker will turn off.
  9. To turn the tracker back on, press the button or plug it in. You know the reset was successful if your tracker shows "0:00."

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish setting up your device.

  5. Choose the type of device you would like to add and follow the on-screen instructions.
