How to Download Songs from Spotify to Play Offline

Introduction

Want to take your music with you, where you won't have Internet? This guide will show you how to download your favorite songs with Spotify, so you always have your music available.
Before You Begin:
You must have Spotify installed

Spotify Premium

In order to download and listen to songs offline, you must have a Premium account with Spotify.

1 Download Songs, Playlists, and Albums from Spotify

Download a Song from Spotify

Spotify gives you the ability to curate a personal playlist made up of your favorite songs. If you wish to download individual songs, you must first put them onto this playlist and then download the playlist.

Add a Song to Your Library

  1. Open Spotify.
    Spotify
  2. Select Browse or Search at the bottom, and locate the songs you'd like to download.

  3. When you see a song you want to download for later, select the Menu on the right.

  4. Then, select Save.

  5. You will be notified the song is added to Your Library.

  6. Repeat these steps for any other songs you want to keep.

Download Your Song Library

  1. Open Spotify.
    Spotify
  2. Select Your Library at the bottom.

  3. Select Songs.

  4. At the top, turn the toggle switch On to download all the songs in Your Library.
    Toggle switch set to On.
  5. Spotify will download the songs you've put into Your Library, so they can be played when you are away from the Internet, or don't want to use your mobile data.

Download A Playlist Outside Your Library

  1. Open Spotify.

  2. Select Browse or Search at the bottom, and locate the playlist you'd like to download.

  3. Set the Download songs toggle switch to On for the playlist.

  4. Repeat these steps for any other playlists you want to keep.

How to Download an Album from Spotify

  1. Open Spotify.

  2. Select Browse or Search at the bottom, and locate the album you'd like to download.

  3. Set the Download toggle switch to On for the album.

  4. The album will now have a Saved banner at the top, indicated it is saved to your device.

  5. Repeat these steps for any other albums you want to keep.

  1. Open Spotify.

  2. Select Your Library at the bottom.

  3. Select Albums.

  4. Select the album you want to download.
  5. At the top, set the Download toggle switch to On for the album.

  6. Select Save Full Album.
  7. Repeat these steps for any other albums you'd like to download.

2 Play Music Downloaded from Spotify

  1. Open Spotify.
    Spotify
  2. Select Your Library at the bottom.

  3. Select Playlists, Songs, Albums, Artists, or Podcasts to see items you've added to your library.

  4. Look for the Green arrow; these items are downloaded to your device, and can be played offline. Select an item to start playing it.

3 Remove Music You Downloaded from Spotify

Removing music doesn't delete it forever. You can still play any music you remove.

Spotify will simply stream it to your device, rather than having it stored on your device, taking up space.

Remove a Song

  1. Open Spotify.
    Spotify
  2. Select Your Library at the bottom.

  3. Select Songs.

  4. Select the Menu to the right of the song you want to remove from your device.

Remove an Album

  1. Open Spotify.

  4. Select the Menu for the Album you want to remove.

Remove A Single Song From A Playlist

You cannot edit someone else's public Playlist. Only a Playlist you have created.
  1. Open Spotify.

  2. Select Your Library at the bottom.

  3. Select Playlists.
    Playlists
  4. Select the Playlist you wish to edit.
  5. Select the Menu next to the song you wish to remove.

  6. Select Remove from this Playlist.

Remove An Entire Playlist From Downloads

This does not delete the playlist itself. The playlist remains intact, and playable via streaming, but the songs themselves are no longer copied to your device.
  1. Open Spotify.
    Spotify
  2. Select Your Library at the bottom.

  3. Select Playlists.
    Playlists
  4. Select the Playlist you wish to remove from your device.
  5. Set the toggle switch for Downloaded to Off.
    Toggle switch set to off.

Delete An Entire Playlist

You cannot delete someone else's public Playlist. Only a Playlist you have created.

  4. Select the Playlist you wish to delete.
  5. Select the Menu at the top right.
