How to Connect Nest x Yale Lock to WiFi

Introduction

The Nest x Yale Lock is a smart deadbolt that you can connect to WiFi and control remotely using the Nest app. However, the lock doesn't connect directly to WiFi, but instead uses a different kind of network to communicate with a Nest Guard or Nest Connect in your home, which in turn connect to WiFi.

  1. Nest Guard is the base with keypad and siren that is part of the Nest Secure system.
  2. Nest Connect is a range extender that keeps your Nest Secure devices connected when they're far apart or helps connect the Nest x Yale Lock to WiFi.

If you purchase the Nest x Yale Lock from one of the Nest retail partners, the Nest Connect will be included in the box.
If you purchase it from the Nest store, you have the option to buy it with or without a Nest Connect.
If you already have Nest Secure, you only need to purchase Nest Connect if your lock is too far from the Nest Guard.
