How to Change DNS Settings on a PlayStation 4

This guided path shows how to configure the DNS settings on your PlayStation 4.

Incorrectly configured network settings can negatively impact your console's performance. We recommend that only network specialists follow these steps, and only in cases where your network requires manual configuration to connect to the Internet.

What you need before you start:

  • PlayStation 4 should be connected to the Internet. (wired or wireless)

1 Configure DNS

Change the DNS settings on your PlayStation 4 by following these steps:

  1. Select Settings.

  4. Choose Use Wi-Fi or Use a LAN Cable depending on how you are connected to the network.

  6. Select Automatic under IP Address Settings.

  7. Select Do Not Specify under DHCP Host Name.

  9. Enter preferred Primary DNS, then select Done.
  10. Enter preferred Secondary DNS, then select Done.
  11. Select Next.

Turn off your PlayStation 4 and turn it back on after a few seconds to restart it.

  1. Press and hold the power button on the console for at least 7 seconds. The system will beep twice and then turn off.
