How to Add Contacts on iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

1 Add Contact

To Add Contacts Using the Contacts App

  1. Open the Phone app.

  2. Tap Contacts (1) at the bottom of the screen, then the Add (2) symbol in the top right corner.

    Alternatively, you can open the Contacts app and add a new contact from there the same way by tapping Add.

  3. Tap in each labeled area to type in the contact's details. Add at least the Name (1) and Phone number (2) of a contact. To add more details, scroll through the screen to see what else you can add. Tap Done (3) in the top right corner to save the information.

2 Add Contact (Keypad)

To Add Contacts Using the Keypad

  1. Open the Phone app.

  2. Tap Keypad (1) at the bottom of the screen, enter the phone number, then tap the Add (2) symbol in the top left corner.

  3. Tap in each labeled area to type in the contact's details. Add at least the Name (1) and Phone number (2) of a contact. To add more details, scroll through the screen to see what else you can add. Tap Done (3) in the top right corner to save the information.

3 Add Contact (Recent Calls)

To Add Contacts From Recent Calls

  1. Open the Phone app.

  2. Tap Recents (1) at the bottom of the screen then Info (2) (letter "i" in a blue circle) to the right of an entry.

  3. Then tap Create New Contact.

  4. Tap in each labeled area to type in the contact's details. Add at least the Name (1) and Phone number (2) of a contact. To add more details, scroll through the screen to see what else you can add. Tap Done (3) in the top right corner to save the information.

4 Add Contact (Messages)

To Add Contacts From Messages

  1. Open Messages.
    iOS Messages app.
  2. Open a conversation that shows an unsaved number instead of a contact name.
  3. Tap Info (letter "i" in a blue circle) on the top right corner.

  4. Tap the unsaved phone number.

  5. Then tap Create New Contact.
