How to Add Contacts on an Android Phone or Tablet

1 Add Contact

To Add Contacts Using the Contacts App

  1. Open the Phone app.

  2. Go to the Contacts (1) tab at the top then tap Add Contact (2) at the bottom right.

    Alternatively, you can open the Contacts app and add a new contact from there the same way by tapping Add Contact.

  3. Tap in each labeled area to type in the contact's details. Add at least the Name (1) and Phone number (2) of a contact. To add more details, tap More Fields and scroll through the screen to see what else you can add. Tap the Check mark (3) in the top right corner to save the information.

2 Add Contact (Dialpad)

To Add Contacts Using the Dialpad

  1. Open the Phone app.

  2. Tap the Dialpad at the bottom.

  3. Enter the phone number and tap Create new contact.

  4. Tap in each labeled area to type in the contact's details. Add at least the Name (1) and Phone number (2) of a contact. To add more details, tap More Fields and scroll through the screen to see what else you can add. Tap the Check mark (3) in the top right corner to save the information.

3 Add Contact (Call History)

To Add Contacts From Call History

  1. Open the Phone app.

  2. Go to the Call History tab and tap the phone number you wish to add to your contacts.

  3. Tap Create New Contact.

  4. Tap in each labeled area to type in the contact's details. Add at least the Name (1) and Phone number (2) of a contact. To add more details, tap More Fields and scroll through the screen to see what else you can add. Tap the Check mark (3) in the top right corner to save the information.

4 Add Contact (Messages)

To Add Contacts From Messages

  1. Open Messages.
    Android Messages.
  2. Find a conversation that shows an unsaved number instead of a contact name.
  3. Tap and hold that phone number to select it then tap Add Contact at the top.

  4. Tap Add Contact to confirm.

  5. Then tap Create new contact.
