Fix UberConference Permissions if Denied by Accident

1. Introduction
If you've launched an UberConference meeting only to be met with an error message or a non-functioning microphone or camera, you may be confused. "My microphone and camera work fine in other apps, why won't they work with UberConference?"
Because UberConference is a web browser-based video conferencing service, it accesses your microphone and camera a bit differently than other apps do. UberConference requests access to this hardware through your web browser, which must ask your permission before being granted that access. Since most users exercise a great deal of caution while surfing the web, you may have accidentally denied permission to your microphone and camera, which is causing UberConference to not work properly.
In this guide, we'll show you how to launch an UberConference meeting and manually grant access to your machine's microphone and camera on the following web browsers:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Microsoft Edge
Apple Safari
2. Start an UberConference Meeting
The first step is to launch an UberConference meeting.
If your web browser is blocking UberConference's access to your microphone and camera, you will see a warning such as the one depicted below. This means that you must manually grant access to your microphone and camera via the web browser that you're using.
3. Manually Grant Microphone & Camera Access to your Browser
Granting your web browser access to your microphone and camera is a relatively simple process. However, there are some slight differences depending on the web browser you're using to access UberConference. Select a browser for further instructions.
Google Chrome
From the address bar
Look at the address bar of Chrome. There will be a camera icon with a red X displayed. Click that Camera icon.
A menu will appear. In this case, the microphone is being blocked. Make sure the Always allow radio button is selected, then click Done.
This process may have to be repeated to also allow access to the camera.
From the settings menu
Navigate to Chrome settings by clicking Menu and then Settings.
Select Privacy and Security.
Select SiteSettings.
Select Camera or Microphone.
Make sure Ask for Accessing is toggled on.
Under Block, click the arrow for UberConference.
Scroll down to Microphone or Camera, select the drop down menu, and click Allow.
Mozilla Firefox
Click the Lock and Microphone icon in the address bar.
A menu will drop down.
Within the drop down menu, there will be a Permissions field. Ensure that Allow is selected for both microphone and camera access.
Microsoft Edge
Within the address bar, click the Microphone or Camera icon. The icon will likely display an X on it.
A menu will appear. In this case, the microphone is being blocked. Make sure the Always allow radio button is selected.
Then click Done.
This process may have to be repeated to also allow access to the camera.
Apple Safari
Click Safari in the menu bar, then click Preferences.
The Preferences window will open. Select the Websites tab, then click Microphone and/or Camera.
UberConference will appear in the list of Currently Open Websites. Make sure the Allow option is selected, then close the Preferences window.
In this example, the Microphone has been allowed. This process may have to be completed for both the Camera and Microphone before proceeding.
Once you have granted your browser access to your microphone and camera, click the Try Again button on the error message within UberConference.
If your issue is not immediately resolved, you may have to close your browser entirely and re-access UberConference for the changes to take full effect.
