Introduction

One error you may receive when using the online features of your Nintendo Switch, usually caused by service outages on Nintendo's side, or very high volume of other people accessing those services. This guide will help you check Nintendo's status website to keep up-to-date on any outages or problems they know of, and if you need to contact Nintendo for further help.
Before You Begin:
  • Make sure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the Internet.
  • Be near your computer or other device with Internet access and a browser to view the Nintendo Network Status (optional)
Connect Your Switch To The Internet

1 Resolve Temporary Service Outage

The error indicates a possible service outage on Nintendo's side. If you are able to access other online services on your Nintendo Switch, this is an issue Nintendo will fix.

This error indicates a problem on Nintendo's servers, not on your Switch. In most cases, you do not have to do anything, Nintendo is working to fix the problem.

Checking Nintendo's Network Status

Because these errors can be frustrating, Nintendo has set up a status page, so you can confirm they know of the problem, they are working to fix it, and possibly an estimated time to repair.

  1. Open your preferred browser, and visit the Nintendo Network Status page.
    https://support.nintendo.com/networkstatus
    Nintendo Network Status
  2. Under Online Service Status, any current maintenance or outages will be listed.
Nintendo Online Server Status showing normal operation.

The Nintendo website will list further steps you can take, as well as customer service should you continue to experience issues for a long period of time.
