CRM (Customer Relationship Management)

When used in its abbreviated form, CRM usually refers to the system that provides the automated component of customer relationship management. CRMs, of which Salesforce is the most widely used, are essentially knowledge management systems specifically tailored to the needs of sales and customer service people. CRMs can track everything associated with a customer, including information about key contacts, the progress of leads, a log of every interaction, corporate background data, and billing information. Some CRMs incorporate ticketing systems to track the progress of support cases, and many standalone ticketing and customer support system have interfaces to major CRMs.
