Call Deflection

This is a general term referring to any process or methodology that makes it possible for an issue to be resolved without the involvement of a live agent, usually because the alternative is less costly to the support provider. An example of call deflection is referring the customer to an online FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions page) or an automated IVA (interactive or intelligent virtual assistance) “robot,” or a text-based, interactive workflow.
