The part of your hard drive that is visible to other users of Ares Gold is limited to your download folder. The default download folder is located in the Ares Gold installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Ares Gold\Downloads).
You should never add private files to your download folder. This includes emails, financial statements, photos, medical records, and other documents that could reveal sensitive information about yourself or your family.
If you share copyright protected files such as songs, movies, or books, without the consent of the copyright holder, you can be held liable for copyright infringement.
Recently the RIAA and a number of performing artists have successfully sued users of file sharing programs for allowing other users to download copyrighted songs from their computer. Many of these cases have been settled out of court for thousands of dollars.
