Security Audit is a downloaded application that scans your computer and recommends security configurations or additional software. Your Solutions Engineer will perform the services for you during your phone call, and will only implement the options you indicate.
Anti-Virus Software Scan
Security Audit will automatically identify whether you have any anti-virus software installed, and if so the last time the virus definitions file (the file the software uses to know what viruses to look for) was updated. If you don't have any virus software installed, your Solutions Engineer will install a trial version of our recommended anti-virus software and scan your computer with it.
Anti-Spyware Software Scan
Spyware, also called adware and malware, is computer software that collects personal information about you without your consent, and can surreptitiously forward that information to remote computers. Spyware can be dangerous (identity or financial-information theft) or merely annoying (lots of advertising popups). Security audit will scan for Spyware programs and enable you to remove it.
Firewall Software Review and Configuration
A firewall monitors traffic into and out of your network or Internet connection. Spyware programs or malicious services can try to send information from your computer out to external locations, or even enable unauthorized remote services access to your computer. Security Audit will scan your computer for the existence of firewall software and help you configure it correctly.
Operating System Updates
Keeping your operating system current with the latest software patches and updates from Microsoft is an important component of security. Microsoft will often release updates in response to system vulnerabilities exposed by viruses, and your computer should be configured to install on a regular basis. Security Audit will review the last time your computer was updated and enable you to schedule periodic updates automatically
