Delete Cookies
Before getting into how to delete cookies, let’s first give a quick recap on what cookies are. Cookies are messages that a web server transmits to a web browser so that the web server can keep track of a person’s activity on a specific website. They are a way for the website to remember who you are and what your viewing preferences are so you do not have to tell it every time you arrive. If you would like to read more about what cookies are and what they do for you, you can read about it in our Privacy Cookies article.
The most important thing to remember about cookies is that the cookies themselves are not dangerous. They are not plug-ins or programs. They are merely text files that can be deleted at any time. Cookies cannot read your hard drive to find out information about you, but they can store information you freely give to a website, including credit card information. In this way, cookies are very relevant to your privacy and security on the internet. To be safe, you may want to periodically delete cookies stored on your computer to cut down on the amount of personal data you have stored in these text files.
