How to Delete Your Browsing History
Have you ever been typing a website address into your browser, and noticed that a list drops down showing all sorts of websites you've visited? Does it concern you that your web browser saves a history of your actions? Well, luckily, it is quite easy to delete your internet history. Read on, and we will go over how to delete your Internet history in the three most common web browsers for windows.
First, we will cover Internet Explorer 8, the browser that is packaged with Windows. The first step towards deleting your browsing history in IE is opening the Tools menu, and selecting Internet Options. On the General tab of this window, you will see a section labeled Browsing History, with a button labeled Delete. Upon pressing the Delete button, you will be presented with options for what you would like to delete. Put check-marks in the boxes labeled History and Temporary Internet Files, then press the Delete button at the bottom of the screen. This will delete your internet browsing history, as well as cached copies of sites you have visited. You can now click the OK button to close the Internet Options window.
Next up is Mozilla Firefox. Deleting your search history in Firefox starts, much like IE, by clicking on the Tools menu in your menubar. From the Tools menu, you will select Clear Recent History. At the top of the window that will open, theres is a drop-down menu where you can choose the time range of data that you would like to clear. We recommend choosing "Everything", but if you only wish to clear the your history for a certain period, you may select the appropriate option. Once you have chosen the time range to clear, click on the button labeled Details. This will expand the window, and let you select which aspects of your browsing history you wish to delete. Make sure the checkbox labeled Browsing & Download History is checked, and click the Clear Now button. The window will close, and your browsing history is deleted.
Finally, we will go over the steps for deleting your browsing history in Opera. This varies greatly between the latest version of the software, and older versions, but one method has remained constant, and that is to simultaneously press the Ctrl+F12 keys. This will open the Preferences window. Along the top of this window, you will see a row of tabs, and you will want to click on the tab labeled Advanced. On the left side of the Advanced tab you will find a box with various options, with History being about halfway down the list. Click on History to highlight it, and bring up the internet history options. In this set of options, you will see two buttons, one labeled Clear, and one labeled Empty Now. Click on Clear to delete your internet history, and on Empty Now to delete your internet cache. You may now close the preferances window, as your internet history has been deleted.
