The Conficker worm can infect your computer and spread itself to other computers on a network or through USB drives automatically. The worm adds a file to the removable drive so that when the drive is inserted, the AutoPlay dialog will show an extra option reading “Open folder to view files – Publisher not specified”. If you select that option, the infected executable file runs and it spreads to other computers. The Conficker computer virus connects the infected machine to a virtual computer that can be commanded remotely by the authors to steal personal and financial information without your knowledge. The worm adds a file to the removable drive so that when the drive is used, the AutoPlay dialog box will show one additional option.
The virus currently has the following variants:

- Conficker.B
- Conficker.C
- Conficker.D
- Conficker.E
