What is Winfixer?

Winfixer is certainly NOT much of a fix. Winfixer passes itself off as a tool for cleaning and repairing your registry, hard disk, multimedia files, and other errors it finds promising to bring your PC back to optimal performance... but in reality it may be pulling the wool over your eyes by faking its own heroics.

This category of naughty software is called a "nuisance" for lack of a better word. Unfortunately, you will probably pay money for Winfixer and then discover it is not what you expected. It might even detect non-existant problems too. Winfixer falls in to the category of Spyaxe, Spywarestrike, Winhound and more... it belongs to a group of commercially available software that scares you in to paying money for a product that barely lifts a finger to clean your system.

We categorize Winfixer as a threat to your pocket book since it exaggerates its reports and prompts you to purchase it in order to clean up those threats. Winfixer is not a virus, or trojan or worm according to us and other experts, it is just something that is considered to be unwanted due to its poor quality, alarming you over inconsequential things.

The Winfixer software is available online from their own website, and most likely there will be lots of internet advertising, ads, and popups sending you their way, but we ask you to please avoid it.

Your best bet for the assurance of a secure computer is to ask our professionals and get an opinion on what to install on your PC. You'd be surprised how good yet inexpensive security can be. In the mean time, do not purchase any of the above products, you will be throwing away your money.
