We Can Optimize Your Computer for Your New Webcam

Communicating through a webcam can be great. But it can be a little frustrating if everything doesn’t run as smoothly as it should.

Let us optimize your computer’s speed so that it’s running like it did when it was new. Over time, computer’s start to slow down with use. This happens as your hard drive files become fragmented and it takes a longer time for your computer to find the files it needs.

Not only can one of our Personal Technology Experts® help you set up your webcam, but he (or she) can help speed up your computer, too. If you’re thinking your computer is too slow and it’s time for a new one, it may just be asking for a nice tune-up. Our 50-point diagnostic checkup is just the medicine your system needs.

Setting Up A Webcam

First, you’ll have to make sure your computer is powerful enough to handle the video you’re going to be sending over the Internet. If you have a recently manufactured computer, it should be fine. Some older systems might have trouble with sending video in high definition, however. Your frame rate might appear too low to be usable. Consult the instructions that came with your web camera, or feel free to ask one of our Personal Technology Experts as he or she sets up your webcam.

Second, you’ll want to make sure you have a broadband Internet connection (i.e., DSL, cable or high speed wireless). While it is possible to send low resolution video using only dial-up, you may not be too happy with the results and many of the web cameras available now are designed to work with broadband only.

Third, you’ll need to install the proper software drivers for your webcam to work. Otherwise, your computer can’t “talk” to the webcam, and it won’t work.

If you have any trouble with this, don’t waste hours in trying to set up your webcam. Just contact us. We’ll take care of everything and you can relax.

Do You Have Problems Connecting Your Digital Camcorder or Projector?

Your computer should automatically detect these two video components. If it doesn’t, it could be that the software drivers weren’t installed properly; they’re out of date; or they’re corrupted. We can help you with this computer video problem, too.

Support.com is here to help with your technology problem—24/7, 365 days a year.
