About the iPad
You've been hearing all the buzz about the iPad, or you've seen one and have decided it's time to get one of your own, right? The iPad has certainly made a big splash in the pool, and it seems like everyone wants one. Now you have an iPad and want to make the most of your investment - here are some common questions and answers to help you get started.
Power Up Your iPad
The socket used to plug your iPad into a power source is along the bottom edge, beneath the Home button. Charging adapters are available that will let you charge your iPad in your car, and you can also charge your iPad with the USB cable that lets you sync your iPad with your computer, and of course, you can still buy the cables that plug into any standard US power outlet. There are also kits that give you all three types of adapters, so you'll be able to stay charged up no matter where you go. Important: There are so many similar-looking cables out there and it's easy to pick up the wrong one, so just make sure that any charging cable you buy is labeled specifically for the iPad.
We can help you get your iPad set up so it uses the battery in the most efficient way, and set up the security settings with an unlock code to keep strangers from accessing the data or apps on your iPad if you lose it. There are settings that let the iPad notify you when you have new mail, and different ways to identify who's calling you. Want to use the alarm clock? You can select a special sound for different alarms, so you can tell whether that beeping is a reminder to take a pill, or jog your memory about a phone call you promised to make.
You've bought your iPad, but don't have an iTunes® account:
No problem! We can help you download the free software and set up a new and free iTunes account to get you up and running in no time! If you have trouble with iTunes software on your computer or synching your iPad to your computer, Support.com Personal Technology Experts® can help.
From the comfort of your own home, right on your computer, we'll help you browse for music at the iTunes Store®, or take you to the App Store℠, where you can select from thousands of iPad applications, and then we'll help you get them loaded onto your iPad.
WOW -- Look at all Those Apps!
It's remarkable how many iPad applications have been developed in the short time that the iPad have been on the market. There are already thousands of apps created specifically for the iPad, and if you already have apps for the iPod touch® or iPhone®, we can help you sync them from your computer, and then decide whether you want to run them in their original size, or expand them to fill the iPad screen. Although there are a few exceptions, nearly all of the apps that are available for the iPod® and iPhone are also compatible with the iPad.
