When you have a computer problem, there are a wide range of options to get your computer repaired. The typical options include your PC or device manufacturer, your ISP (Internet Service Provider), a retail store or a local computer repair shop. Depending on the type of problem, each of these support providers would either fix the problem or declare the problem “out of scope”, forcing you to find another option. This game of “not my problem” can be very frustrating.
More recently a new option for computer repair has been made available to consumers – “online computer repair Online computer repair is simple – you stay in your home and a computer tech (Solutions Engineers in our lingo) remotely connects to your computer, performs magic and (most of the time) solves the problem. Here are advantages of online computer repair in the words of our customers:
“When I tried to print a document I was getting a message - Incorrect Port Detected and the print request was being cancelled. Your engineer was able to perform a quick fix! Thanks! - Robert, PA”
“A very ugly virus got me. Lots of things were happening, pop ups, redirects, but the worst was the "radio" that intermittently came from my speakers! … …Thank you for your help in solving my problem.- Gail, GA”
“My computer was a total disaster, i.e. crashing, locking up etc. Your service restored it to the day I purchased it! - Alan, NY”
“I received a blue screen and an error message of "memory dump" I freaked. Luckily at the root of the problem was a Microsoft download culprit and the support technician was great finding and removing this update. So far so good...thanks! - Deborah, NC”
“External hard drive containing months of work suddenly stopped working. Within one hour of contacting Solutions Engineer it was up working. Thank you support.com. - Mike, WA”
This feedback can be summarized under the heading “comprehensive computer problem coverage”. Assuming you have a broadband Internet connection, just about any problem (other than coffee poured into the computer) can be solved online – remotely.
Take a typical example, when your internet is slow, in many cases it is because of a slow or virus infected PC. Contacting your ISP doesn’t help because they’ll see that your Internet connection is fine and won’t touch your computer. You then contact your PC manufacturer or your router manufacturer who tells you they can’t fix your problem because the hardware is working fine.
An online computer repair company would diagnose all of these areas and fix anything that is required to get your computer working fine. From slow computers to email Problems to PC applications to devices to home networks to even the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, there are no “out of scope” problems.
In addition to providing comprehensive problem solving support online computer repair also (again in the words of our customers) is immediate and convenient. Traditional computer repair involves adjusting your schedule – waiting for a tech to arrive at your home, scheduling an appointment at a local computer repair shop or shipping your computer to a faraway repair center. Online computer repair is available in real-time – on your schedule. And with remote control technology you can sit back and watch – in the comfort of your home (in your pajamas… if you like).
Below is just a small sampling of how our customers feel after experiencing online computer repair at support.com:
“I am so glad I called you. I could not at my age disconnect my PC and carry it to someone for fixing and have to wait for who knows how long. I want to say thank you. - Beatrice, CA”
“… I had started with a call to the Geek Squad who said they preferred to come to the house but didn't have an appointment for a couple of weeks. This is in stark contrast to your company; the person who answered the phone was available to help me immediately. Thank you David. Job well done. - Laura, MA”
“This is my first time using a service like this. Working with John made it easy to use and not complex. Thank you for a truly easy to use service. - Gernado, CA”
“…. I couldn't get a local service to look at my computer for at least a week. support.com handled it immediately, and had the problem fixed within 1 hour. Delivered on every promise, very helpful and spoke to me in plain English.- Laurie, NH”
Finally our customers recognize that online computer repair is cost effective – cheaper than having a tech come to the house (and that isn’t surprising – it costs more for a tech to schedule a time and drive to your house). Additionally, with our online computer repair approach the buck stops with us – no transfers, no “not my problem” games. As long as your hardware isn’t physically broken there’s a very good chance we can solve the problem.
“…Being in college I am also very much on a slim budget and Thanks to support.com and Scott my computer was completely fixed without losing any information and I was offered something I could afford. Thank you sooo very much!! You saved me! - Shari, OK”
“… The last time this happened to my machine I took it to a local shop. They kept my laptop for 5 days and charged me nearly three times what it took Eric do fix in less than one hour. Very, very impressive! -Jason, MA”
"… My experience has not always been positive with utilizing tech support services. The value (service expectations vs cost) were not always equal. A friend recommended I call (support.com) ....very glad I did. The value received could not have been any better. Thanks!" - Robert, IN”
